Privacy policy
Last updated 25 October 2026.
Under the Bonnet (underthebonnet.au) helps people understand what a car costs to finance. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what we do with it, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
- Car alerts and newsletters: your email address, the cars you track and the updates you choose.
- Broker call-back requests: your name, mobile number, optional email, the car and figures you were looking at, what you're buying for, your timeframe and the best time to call.
- Basic technical data: such as your browser type and pages visited, used to keep the site working and secure.
Calculator inputs stay in your browser unless you send them with a call-back request.
How we use it
- To send the alerts and newsletters you asked for.
- To pass your call-back request to our licensed partner broker so they can contact you about finance.
- To improve the site and keep it secure.
We don't sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
- Our partner broker, only when you request a call back. The broker handles your information under their own privacy policy and Credit Guide, which they will give you.
- Service providers that host the site, store data and send emails for us, such as Google Cloud and Firebase. Data is stored in Google's Sydney region.
